Cook a Spanish omelet (“Tortilla de Patatas”) at Mono’tel’s kitchen

If you are a food lover and you like to try different food of around the world, you can always use Mono’tel’s kitchen in order to make a delicious Spanish omelet (“Tortilla de Patatas”) 🙂


  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic, chopped
  • olive oil
  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • Salt to taste


Heat olive oil to high heat in a frying pan. Add the garlic and the onion and cook during 3-5 minutes (until softened). Add the potatoes, seasoned with salt, and cook until tender (usually 20-30 minutes). After that, drain the garlic, onion and potatoes on paper towel. Reserve 1-2 tablespoons of oil.

Beat the egg in a bowl, seasoned with salt. Once the egg is beaten add in the bowl the garlic, onion and potatoes and mixed them carefully. Heat the reserved oil to very high heat and add the mixture of egg, potato, onion and egg. Cook one side during 8-10 minutes or until one the sides is cooked. Cover the frying pan with a plate (the plate has to be bigger than the frying pan) and carefully invert the omelet to the plate (this is the most tricky and difficult part 😉 ) and then put it again into the frying pan so that you can cook the other side of the omelet. You can repeat the process a couple of times, until you make sure that the the omelet is done 🙂
